This week on the blog, we interview the Singapore-based photographer Shavonne Wong who didn't initially plan to be one as she started photography out of boredom! But thankfully for us, Shavonne quickly caught the photography bug and has now become a fantastic artist.
Let's discover Shavonne's interview and photographs in 13 photos in full resolution!
A few words about you, how did you start photography?
When I decided to first pick up photography, it was mainly because I had a lot of time on my hands and was kind of bored and looking for a creative outlet. I was looking through some magazines and decided to attempt to shoot what I saw in there. The first shoot I ever did I booked a studio, borrowed my ex boyfriend's camera and dragged my sister there. And it really just started from there!
Can you briefly explain your creative process for a great beauty shot?
I would start with an idea first, and then build a mood board from there. I would also enlist the help of a stylist and makeup artist, and we would decide what would look great for the shoot.
Are you inspired by the work of other photographers or artists?
My favourite photographers are Tim Walker and Bruno Dayan, but my work looks nothing like theirs. So I'm not sure.
Is there someone in the world you dream to photograph?
Tilda Swinton and Carmen Dell Orefice

About your photography gears, what are your favorite tools?
I recently got to try the Fujifilm GFX 100 paired with the 120mm macro lens and loved the results from this pairing!
Do you have projects for the future like workshops, personal series or travels?
I'll be in NYC for the whole of October and LA for the start of Nov, I am planning to shoot a whole bunch while I'm there!
